Could I answer one email, show up and photograph you beautifully, and hand you digitals? Yes. So why do I have an entire process that takes weeks leading up to our session together? Why does it feel like I’m complicating something that could be so quick and easy?
Because quick and easy isn’t what you really want.

“When Shannon posted about wanting to do an all black and white boudoir session, I immediately knew that’s what I wanted to do for my 30th birthday present to myself. Women hear so much about ‘getting their bodies back’ after having a baby. After having two babies in less than two years, I loathed the saying. This body was the same body that went through cancer, infertility, and two c-sections. This body simultaneously nursed one child, while growing another. This body was with me when I lost my best friend and brother at 19, and was with me on my wedding day and when I saw my boys’ faces for the first time. I knew Shannon the only person I wanted and trusted with this, and I’ll be forever grateful to her for these images.”

While I think it can be a lovely gift for a spouse, it’s more about what it signifies for the one having their photographs taken. When I get an inquiry for bridal boudoir I want to make sure that we talk and are after the same ultimate goal. There is beauty in being strong and independent. That doesn’t have to change with marriage. It’s incredible to watch the session unfold. For those that thought it was going to be a gift for someone else, what they start to realize is that the ultimate receiver is themselves.
