YOU Are The Holiday Magic | Boca Raton Family Photographer

YOU Are The Holiday Magic | Boca Raton Family Photographer

I’ve been seeing a lot of videos that show Christmas in the 90s.

They suck you in with the nostalgia of it all. Bing Crosby in the background, while showing incandescent lights that are impossible to find these days.

You can almost smell the cookies baking in the oven, while mom is watching TV in the kitchen.

You feel a pit in your stomach.

Why is that feeling gone? Where did it go?

You hear other adults talk about getting back to that feeling; searching for something that no longer exists.

How does a feeling just disappear?

I’ve been longing for that feeling for over half my life. It’s been decades since I experienced that magic.

Then, I became a mom.

I dreamed of giving my daughter the Christmas’s that I grew up with. I envisioned how I could give her the same whimsy.

It hit me.

My mom was the magic.

Celebrating a 40th Wedding Anniversary with a Family Session in Rosemary Beach

Celebrating a 40th Wedding Anniversary with a Family Session in Rosemary Beach

Alison’s immediate family was traveling to Alys Beach to celebrate her parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. It was a time that everyone was going to be in one place together, celebrating an important milestone. What made this trip even more special is that a recent health scare had them thinking that their dad might not be making this trip. Luckily he was okay, but this was a big reason behind the need for making sure they had tangible memories from their trip. During the session Alison and I talked about how scared they had all been. How her dad was such a key part of their family and how much these photographs were going to mean to all of them. Not only for the kids, but as the grandchildren got older.

40th Wedding Anniversary and Extended Family Session

40th Wedding Anniversary and Extended Family Session

Alison reached out to me because there were so many recent events to celebrate and she wanted it all captured on film. Being an extremely talented wedding and event florist in Oklahoma City, she knows the value of photography and capturing those key moments. Mommy and Me Session

Mommy and Me Session

I adore family sessions, but there is something so special about a session with a mom and her first born. Each child is unique and forms there own bond, but there is something about the newness of it all. This is mom’s first experience with her own child. This is a time where they are both learning together and growing. I’ve done a handful of sessions with just mom and her first born and they have become some of my favorites.

Extended Family Photography and It's Importance |

Extended Family Photography and It's Importance |

Stop for a second and think about the last time you had your extended family all in one place. Think about the last time you had even your nuclear family in one place. As we get older it becomes harder to stop what we’re doing to visit our parents, children, or grandchildren. I never get to see my sister and niece as much as I would like. Every second that I get with my family is something that I truly cherish, especially after losing my grandfather and grandmother within a few months of each other. Life is so incredibly short and memories tend to fade the older we get. This is a huge reason why I photograph families. I have a deep love for documenting the relationships between them. Most families don’t get together unless there is a wedding or funeral; it’s the sad truth. That’s why I get so excited when people contact me about doing extended family sessions. Involving the grandparents makes for such a special session. It freezes time for everyone involved. It allows them to have memories long after their parents and grandparents are gone. When I was a little girl I don’t remember being in photos with my granddad. But, looking back at those photographs now I’m so lucky to have those. I might not remember the event or circumstance, but I remember how my granddad always made me feel. I couldn’t imagine not having those photographs.
