Often, the same question comes up, “Where do you recommend we do our family session?” My answer is almost always going to be the same: Is there a place that’s special to you? Yes, family photos are about the people in them and the emotions. However, there is also an environmental element that should be considered. Where your photos take place are going to help tell your story. Let’s look at some different examples of places that I’ve photographed families and why these locations were chosen.

Throughout the year I get requests for mini sessions, but I feel that they aren’t always appropriate for most families. While it seems like it’s convenient, or it will save you money, in the long run I don’t believe that’s true. I’m going to make this in a list form so that it’s easy to read and simple to understand. Not that I don’t think my readers are incapable, but parents need things as quick and easy as possible these days.
