The women who stand before me are true works of art. The simplicity from this session just blew me away.

A is a florist who lives in a different state. She and I have been following each other on Instagram for years. We had talked here and there, but never met in person. She messaged me almost a year ago, letting me know she was going to be in my area and was finally ready to set up a boudoir session. She told me that she had been waiting because I was the one that HAD to photograph her (talk about an honor). We did the session in an AirBnB that she and her husband were staying in to attend a friend’s wedding. She made sure to find one that was neutral with some great natural light. The best light was in the living room, so I ended up moving the couch and some tables out of the way. Like I said in my previous post, I’ll move mountains to get my clients the best photographs.

Tallahassee Boudoir Photographer | J's Testimony

Jehna, a mother of two, approached me early in the year about a boudoir session. I could tell from our first phone call that she was strong and passionate. I followed up with her after the session to ask her about the experience.

For so long, I felt like I had only thought about beauty from a man's perspective and trying to be what he must find beautiful or sexy. I realized I was starting to develop my own definition of beauty and a way of appreciating it, and wanted to be a part of creating artful images that reflected/communicated my sense of beauty... a woman's sense of what's beautiful, aware that my definition of beauty is passed down to my daughter. I needed to demonstrate more self love for my body exactly the way that it is.

Upon receiving her images, Jehna describes feeling a range of emotions in both reflection and in analyzing herself in the photos.

When I first looked at the photos, I was very excited, but also quick to criticize the way I looked. I didn't like my smile in this one, or dimples in that one, or my pale skin. But I spent more time looking through them over days and weeks, and slowly, my thoughts, my self-talk started to change. Pale became "porcelain", dimpled and fat became "sexy and curvy, soft and womanly", and I fell more in love with photos that I had initially excluded from my "list". I have developed more self love. And I have a desire to continue to "document" and explore my definition of beauty through further photography sessions over time...capturing exactly where I am, and loving it!

I'm beyond honored, reading what she said about working with me.

I think there's also something to Shannon’s way with clients. I felt incredibly comfortable and encouraged with her behind the camera, through her easy demeanor and accepting and loving encouragement. I also knew she would help create the kind of images I wanted; something from a woman's perspective, with an artful eye. I wanted to be part of creating a beautiful piece of art, and I had confidence that Shannon could do that. She was a partner in creating something beautiful and also making me feel beautiful.

West Palm Boudoir Photographer | Taliah | Shannon Griffin

Have you ever connected with someone the very instant you met them? This is what happened when I first met Taliah. We met when working together in a restaurant 15 years ago. She was someone that I stayed in contact with on social media, but I hadn't seen her much since those days. There has always been an energy about her that has caused me to gravitate toward her. She's been through a lot, but still maintains such a positive outlook on life. More than that, she maintains a positive outlook on people.

I had been craving a personal shoot. My blood needed something that made my veins feel alive. I knew that I wanted it to be boudoir focused and that I wanted to photograph a woman of color. Of course, Taliah popped in my mind. She lived in Atlanta and I happened to be traveling up there for a wedding. I reached out, nervously asked if she would be interested, and was delighted when she said,"Hell yeah!" I knew that we would create magic together.

I showed up to her house and she was finishing up her hair and makeup. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest full-body hug. My whole being felt warm and welcome; she has that way about her. She has an infectious love and I wanted to convey that through these photographs. I wanted her to just "be" and stand before me. My job was to be still and listen to everything she had to tell me through her movements. I don't know if I did her justice, but it was my goal. I left this session with a feeling of wholeness and hope.

I love being a West Palm boudoir photographer, but I also love that it affords me to travel to people like this goddess.

J's Tallahassee boudoir session includes lingerie she brought back from Italy and gorgeous red hair. This will go down as one of my favorites.
