Golden Ledge Telluride Wedding | Telluride Wedding Photographer | Shannon Griffin

Golden Ledge Telluride Wedding | Telluride Wedding Photographer | Shannon Griffin

This is one of those weddings that you don’t want to share because you’re holding onto it so tightly. I know that fellow photographers will understand this feeling. When Sutton, owner of the incredible planning company By Sutton, called me and said, “I have this incredible couple and I know you’ll be the perfect fit for them!”, I knew it was going to be a good one. She went on to tell me that they were having their wedding on Golden Ledge, which is a mountain in Telluride, Colorado. That’s literally all that’s up there…a mountain. That means that Sutton and her team completely build Julie and Chase’s ceremony and reception site. When I showed up the day before the wedding, to photograph their family champagne toast, my jaw hit the ground. I’ve never seen a ceremony site as beautiful. You had to walk through these gorgeous trees to get to it and it felt like magic. You’ll see in the photos bellow that this was a dream wedding, but what you won’t see is the way these two families love. I’ve never seen bigger cheerleaders for their children than Julie and Chase’s parents. Not to mention, the support from their incredible siblings. I wanted to be adopted into that family so badly.

The Olde Pink House Savannah Wedding | Savannah Georgia Wedding Photographer | Shannon Griffin Photography

This wedding was what I would call intimate perfection. Andrea and Scott are two of the warmest people you’ll come across. It was so important to them to keep the wedding party small, guest count low, and celebration the center focus. The Olde Pink House in Savannah was the perfect location for their reception, following a beautiful ceremony in Washington Square. If you’ve ever been to Savannah, you know they are known for their historical squares and this is where many intimate weddings take place. They chose Washington Square because it was within walking distance to The Olde Pink House, letting their guests enjoy the views of Savannah along the way. It also allowed us to get some stunning photographs of the two of them while walking.

Peach and Pearl Events, along with Florals by the Sea did an absolutely incredible job with this elegant Carillon Beach wedding. Natalie and Liam decided to shake things up and do it a little different (which I love and was all about when Natalie first reached out to me). They ended up having the “wedding” on a Friday, which included the getting ready, formals, ceremony, and a cocktail style reception. That left four hours of relaxing and partying on Saturday, at their gorgeous tented reception. I loved the way this all unfolded, as the two of them were really able to relax and enjoy friends and family on Saturday.

Is an Intimate Wedding Right for You | West Palm Beach Wedding Photographer | Shannon Griffin Photography

When I began photographing weddings 12 years ago they were completely different. Wedding magazines had been around for a while, but wedding blogs were a newer thing. Pinterest wasn’t a thing. You would cut out photographs and tips from magazines and put them into a folder. Now, we have the internet and social media at our fingertips. This is a wonderful thing, but it can also be overwhelming and make some couples obsessive. Thanks to wedding blogs, it almost feels like a competition to have your wedding featured or to have the prettiest details. While details are an important part of your wedding day, they are certainly not what it’s about or what your guests will take away from the day.

Private Home St. George Island Wedding | St. George Island Wedding Photographer | Shannon Griffin

This wedding almost didn't happen. Hurricane Michael came through a few months ago and took out large parts of the northern, western coast of Florida. Small fishing towns, like St. George Island, were some of the hardest hit. Driving to Ashley and Tucker's wedding looked like a war zone. Luckily, the home they were married at was not hit. The day was already an emotional one, but especially with toasts and tears being shed over the loss in the surrounding area.
