Incorporating My Fashion Photography Background Into Your Boudoir Session

It’s not something I talk about often, but I graduated from college with a fashion photography portfolio. I even went to NYC a few times to work with fashion photographers. I thought that’s where I wanted my life and focus to be.

While I loved it, I felt like something was missing. I would show up not know anything about the models, who they were as people, what they wanted out of life. I didn’t always know what the brand’s mission statement was (I was young and didn’t know what I was doing. I realize now there is a way to go about brand and fashion photography).

I started working with a wedding photographer in Palm Beach and realized that I could have the lifestyle I wanted, make a good living, and still enjoy what I do. That’s the honest truth of how I ended up in weddings.

From the weddings, I started to photograph their families and even do boudoir sessions. I realized a common thread in that my main focus was the women. I always focus on the women. I want them to feel their most confident, powerful, graceful, and highest selves. I help choose wardrobe selections and locations that will best compliment who they really are.

I realized that I had the opportunity to photograph women and make them feel like the models I had once photographed. To show them that they are just as beautiful, wanted, and important.

Today, I thought it would be fun to just look back at some of the photographs I’ve taken for different brands. I connected with each one of these models and everything I thought was truth about fashion photography vanished. I look forward to continuing to do these types of photoshoots, along with my family and boudoir work.
