So many days I sit at my desk alone. I feel that I’m in this crazy journey of my business by myself. It’s so easy to get lost in the emails, invoices, accounting, editing, marketing, etc. There are times that I’m so busy with everything else, it feels that photography is such a minuscule part of what I do. The truth is, it is.
It’s the days that I get to get on the phone with a woman who is facing divorce head on and is deciding, in some of the darkest days of her life, that she wants to stand in front of my camera. She wants to open her wounds, show me her new scars, and trust me to tell her story.

Women are incredibly powerful, but we are still human. We spend so much of our emotional labor taking care of others that sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. My first interview is with an incredible wedding planner. I’ve worked with Avis Glenister, of Peach and Pearl Events, a few times and she is one of the top in her field. We sat down to discuss the ins and outs of wedding planning and what exactly goes into owning your own business in the wedding industry. We talk abut the wonderful parts of it, as well as the struggles.Read More
Adrienne and Wes had originally planned to have their wedding somewhere else, but Eden Gardens State Park stole their hearts. It was also easier for more family members to come if they had it locally. One of my favorite details is Adrienne using her grandmother’s dress as part of her reception display. It was such a special touch and a great way to honor her.Read More
It’s that time of year when I can barely breathe. Two weeks ago was spent driving 8 hours north, to photograph a wedding and 7 mini sessions. This past weekend was spent driving 10 hours to photograph a wedding, oh, and stopping along the way to photograph a 2 hour family session. Before that, it was weekends spent second shooting weddings, answering countless emails, calling potential couples (it’s engagement season), editing for other photographers (alongside my own work), booking family sessions, boudoir sessions…BREATHE.Read More
